Global sustainability increased slightly, according to a comparison of the results of SSI-2006 and SSI-2008, by 0.1 points to 5.7. When using two decimals, it appears to be even much less, as can be seen in the next graph.

World average - Categories
The categories with emphasis on Quality of Life have improved their scores (no update available for Healthy Environment). The two categories with emphasis on Sustainability saw their scores deteriorate.
World average - Indicators

This graph shows in more detail what already has become clear in the previous graph of the categories. Of category Personal Development, all 6 indicators (nrs. 1 through 6) show improved scores. In the category Well Balanced Society, better scores are found for Employment (nr. 11) and for Public Debt (nr. 14), with a slightly lower score for Income Distribution (nr 13). Lower scores appear for Consumption of Renewable Energy (nr. 17), Emission of Greenhouse Gases (nr. 20) and Ecological Footprint (nr. 21), ending with a better score for International Cooperation (nr. 22) in the categories Sustainable Use of Resources and Sustainable World.
