SSI The Netherlands 1975 – 2008
The developments with respect to sustainability in The Netherlands have been measured along the 24 indicators of the (redesigned) SSI. It appears that The Netherlands has made little progress on the way to a sustainable society, across the years 1975 - 2008. The overall score of the SSI grew by nearly 0.5 points to 6.26 in 2008. While income per capita grew by more than 500%, the increase of the SSI is a mere 8%. The considerable increase in wealth has not been used for a substantial increase of the level of sustainability.
